Our clients tell us that this process facilitates maximum client input and satisfaction and greatly reduces miscommunication.  The Design+Build process provides our client with a single point of contact and responsibility for quality, budget, schedule adherence and final construction completion. Working with multiple designers, architects, contractors and subcontractors can be confusing, drawn out and prone to miscommunication.  Our process is simple:

Design Consultation

Francis Harvey & Sons’ designers are experts at helping homeowners define their vision.  Your design consultant will meet with you in your home and will listen to your needs and ideas for your project and discuss the issues you want to address and goals you would like to achieve.

Design Agreement

The next step is to enter into a preliminary design agreement.  Here, you and your designer will develop a wish list for your project and discuss your ideas and your budget. Together, we will work with you to identify your personal style and how you would like that to be reflected in your home. Your designer will work closely with you to guide you through the exciting process of collaborating with our award-winning design staff to narrow your choices and ultimately select a beautiful and creative design that complements your lifestyle and your home.

Budget

Because we are the designers and the builders, Francis Harvey & Sons can accurately determine costs in the design phase, so you will know how each choice affects your budget.  You will see your finished project in 3-D virtual reality that brings your project to life and facilitates making changes now, instead of during the build phase when change orders can cost time and money.

 Design Details and Selections

Once your vision for your project has been clearly established, you can begin filling in the details.  There are many materials and finishes for you to choose from.  Because we make remodeling Easier Than You Imagined, our team will welcome you to our selections room where you can see and touch a wide variety of options.  Your designer will continue to assist you with design details, colors and finish decisions until all the details of your dream project are complete. 

Build

Once the design and project development agreement have been finalized, and the selections have been made, we will prepare a full set of construction documents. These drawings will include specifications, floor plans, elevations, schedules and design selections. Upon, your approval, the plans and the budget are finalized and building permits are obtained.

Shortly before beginning construction, your designer will hold a Turnover meeting at your home.  You will meet your build team and review your project details to confirm agreement before we build. 

Your comfort and quality of life during the remodel is extremely important to us.  Although any remodel is not without its challenges, we try to disrupt your life as little as possible.  We cleanup the project site each day before we leave.  We inspect your home for stray nails, trash or other project debris.  We use port-o-lets during your remodel so we won’t need to bother you. And, our employees are trained to respect you, your home and you neighborhood.

We provide you with a detailed schedule showing exactly which phases of construction will take place when, and then we meet that goal. During construction, your lead carpenter will meet with you in your home on a weekly basis to address any concerns or answer any questions and keep the lines of communication open. Near completion, we get together again to note and resolve any issues prior to finishing your building project and ensure you are 100% satisfied.  Because every phase of the project is directed by Francis Harvey & Sons, we are accountable for the results. Follow-up and customer service
