The Problem

This home had an excellent location that made the young family want to move in, but the kitchen made them want to run away.  They have small children and wanted a casual place for eating and homework, in addition to a space for family dinners.  The family also needed to greatly increase the storage space to accommodate everything from refrigerated items to snacks and pantry essentials.  Lastly, they wanted to open up the kitchen to the other rooms in the house and make the kitchen a warm and inviting place to spend time.

The Solution

We brightened up the room with a neutral color scheme and a detailed lighting plan. We used maple cabinetry, painted in a soft cream color with an oatmeal glazing on the perimeter cabinets and cherry cabinets with a truffle stain and a walnut glaze on the island.  To increase their storage space we removed an existing exterior door and a wall to create a walk-in pantry with additional cabinetry, an extra refrigerator and another sink.  New hardwood floors tied the kitchen to the newly remodeled family room.  Our clients are thrilled with the results and they look forward to creating many memories in their new kitchen.

This hutch was custom-designed to tie the perimeter cabinetry and island together, the cream cabinets match the perimeter cabinets and the desktop surface is the same cherry as the island.
