Francis Harvey FrannieFrancis Harvey & Sons introduces Frannie!

Francis Harvey & Sons is the proud sponsor of a service dog puppy through NEADS in Princeton, MA, NEADS neads.org is an organization that was established in1976 to train and provide rescued dogs and donated puppies to assist people who are deaf or physically disabled in leading more independent lives at work, at home and at school. These assistance dogs become an extension of their owners and bring security, freedom, independence and relief from social isolation to their human partners. NEADS national headquarters is located in Princeton, MA, a rural setting close to Worcester in Central Massachusetts. NEADS is the oldest continuing hearing dog program in the country and the only program of its kind in New England, as well as one of the country's largest.

Our puppy’s name is Frannie and she was born on August 14, 2007.  She arrived at the Early Learning Center (puppy house) on the NEADS campus at about 11 weeks old.  She is busy playing with the other puppies and learning basic obedience.  It was difficult to get this photo as Frannie did not want to stay still for very long.  Frannie will remain at the Princeton campus to live and learn for about eight weeks. Taking full advantage of puppies' early learning capacity, each puppy undergoes a specialized curriculum, providing an enriched environment of stimulating experiences, vigorous socialization, and service dog “prep” work. And of course, lots of playtime with their housemates in their daily routine. This program builds a solid foundation and readies the puppies for placement in our prison program or in foster homes upon completion of the program at the Learning Center.

At Francis Harvey & Sons, Inc.  we are thrilled to be part of this exciting program and we look forward to watching Frannie progress through the program.

Francis Harvey More FrannieMore Frannie!

Above, we showed you we showed you Frannie at the puppy house where he received his early socialization.  He is now nine months old and has begun training to acclimate him to the community.  As part of that training, the weekend puppy raisers took their pups on a field trip to Boston.  The pups had a busy day – riding into Boston on the train and walking around Boston visiting different sites including the State house where this photo was taken.  Frannie is the black lab in the front on the left – leash is being held by the woman in black.  We hope you love seeing the photos as much as we do!  We can’t wait to see more from this exciting partnership.

Francis Harvey & Sons designed and built a working kitchen display where top chef's from some of Boston's hottest restaurants, including Todd English’s Olives, and Legal Seafood, teamed up with Channel 7's Frances Rivera at the Health Expo to show us some tricks of the trade for healthy cooking.

In keeping with the focus on health, Francis Harvey & Sons, featured a “green” kitchen.  The cabinets are crafted with Lyptus, an environmentally sustainable hardwood, and topped with PaperStone countertops, an FSC-certified solid surface countertop, made of post-consumer recycled paper.

In addition to healthy cooking demonstrations, the event featured over one hundred lively, educational and healthy activities for visitors of all ages over the two day event.  Many celebrity guests were scheduled to attend including Teddy Bruschi and Keith Lockhart.
